Musharraf treason trial--Formation, Composition and Jurisdiction of court challenged
January 1st, 2014: Dr Raza Bokhari, international spokesperson of General Pervez Musharraf issued the following press release to various media outlets:
Lawyers representing Former President Musharraf have raised objections to the formation, composition and jurisdiction of the special treason court in Islamabad High Court.
In addition, last week, the Supreme Court accepted a petition to review its biased decision of July 2009 that unlawfully triggered allegations of high treason against Former President Musharraf.
We demand that the unlawfully formed special treason court avoid the label of being called a 'kangaroo court" and suspend its proceedings until the challenges raised by General Musharraf are heard and properly disposed by the superior courts.
It is also extremely important to recognize that the Government of Pakistan and its intelligence service is around the clock monitoring more than three dozen active and credible militant threats against General Musharraf. It would be reckless endangerment to constrain him before a court, which is operating without lawful authority.
