Musharraf in Police Custody & Pakistan Elections--Statement by the Office of Gen. Musharraf

PM - surrenderApril 19th, 2013: Dr. Raza Bokhari, North American Point of Contact to General Pervez Musharraf, Former President of Pakistan and Chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), in speaking to various media outlets issued the following statement:

Former President Musharraf earlier today surrendered in the court of Judicial Magistrate Islamabad and is currently in the custody of Islamabad Police awaiting the trial court process to unfold. The allegations leveled against the Former President in Judges detention case are false and politically motivated. The alleged offense is bailable and we expect the trial court to conform to the Rule of Law and follow precedence without prejudice.
These pre-meditated malicious distractions created by segments of overzealous judiciary, unscrupulous lawyers and fictitious petitioners are a blatant attempt to eliminate the option for the People of Pakistan to consider choosing Former President Musharraf as their elected leader in the upcoming elections.
The coordinated manner in which liberal and progressive voices are being muzzled in Pakistan, through a combination of unwarranted judicial activism and militant threat, should instantly bring into action the attention of the world community that the stage is being set for upcoming elections in Pakistan to be stolen by right leaning political parties who are sympathetic to Taliban and encourage extremist organizations that are spreading a reign of terror through sectarian violence and religious intolerance.
If this is not true, then why is it that in more than 23000 candidates that received nominations to participate in the upcoming elections, General Pervez Musharraf is the ONLY candidate whose candidacy was initially accepted by the Election Commission Returning Officer in Chitral (NA-32), but was subsequently rejected by the Election Tribunal in Peshawar High Court, based on the unlawful presumption of guilt. The Leaders of the Free World must act immediately to stop this travesty.
