Nadeem Shaikh is a global leader and corporate executive-turned-entrepreneur with 20 years’ experience in financial services and information technology. He has held a number of strategic senior management roles in a wide range of businesses: start-ups, turn-arounds, joint ventures, private equity-owned firms, and mature corporations. He has a world-class track record in innovation, business turnarounds, and profitable revenue growth in complex challenges throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Africa.
Having held various senior executive positions at First Data Corporation (2005-2010), a global technology and payments processing leader, Nadeem served on First Data’s International Board from 2007 through 2010. As head of Financial Institutions, he built the company’s first global line of business—his teams managed relationships throughout the Financial Institutions vertical in 50 international markets. As President of First Data’s Europe, Middle East and Africa division, Nadeem oversaw 6,000 employees based in 20 countries with annual revenues of over US $1 billion.
Nadeem’s experience includes extensive market development success winning global contracts in developing markets ranging from Brazil and China to the Middle East and Africa. These wins required innovation, some of which included building a new leadership team; establishing global centers of excellence (for products, services, and technology); standardizing platforms, products, and infrastructure; establishing professional global and local sales forces; strengthening key account management; building a global sales pipeline; and integrating sales and marketing best practices.
Prior to joining First Data, Nadeem held various senior management positions at American Management Systems (1989-2004), a global strategic management and information technology consulting firm.
Nadeem currently serves as a venture partner of Anthemis Group, a specialized holding company that invests in growth-stage companies with innovative business models at the intersection of financial services, markets, and technology. Nadeem also is managing director for the group’s operational and strategic advisory; he leads the firm’s payments practice. In addition, he serves as strategic advisor to a number of start-up businesses in industries ranging from technology and media to homeland security.
Nadeem is a trustee of CARE Foundation Pakistan and an Ambassador for Giving Africa, two charities that provide marketable education to the underprivileged. He also volunteers his time as President Musharraf’s European point of contact.
